The NPHG and the Second Air Division USAAF Memorial Library welcomed representatives of the Polish National Foundation from Warsaw to the Forum for a fascinating and sometimes harrowing account of how USAAF planes belatedly air-dropped arms and supplies to Polish insurgents fighting in the calamitous 63-day Warsaw Uprising of 1944 against German forces. 250,000 Poles lost their lives during the fighting and Warsaw was razed to the ground.

Norfolk had a connection with the missions as B-17 Flying Fortress bombers from Thorpe Abbott's airbase took part and members of the 100th Bomb Group Memorial Museum were in attendance with a display archive materials at the event.

The event proved to very successful with an audience of 100 guests. General Lord Dannatt and the Worshipful Sheriff of Norwich Dr Marian Prinsley were guests of honour.
